Can't upgrade to v2.3

I currently have v2.1 flashed onto my recorder 20.

It boots up and says rockbox v2.1

I downloaded the v2.3, and follow the instructions (delete .rockbox folder and ajbrec.ajz, and put new ones in place), then when i shut it off and boot up, its still v2.1

What do i do?

... you followed the instruction on how to upgrade when not having Rockbox flashed.

You should run the new ajbrec.ajz file and then run the rockbox.ucl file (in the .rockbox folder) to upgrade your flash.
