playing track #4 as #5 then going to track #6
« on: March 26, 2008, 08:51:44 AM »
I have Toshiba f-40 r16671-080314

I am listening to an album.
after it plays track #4, it starts playing track #4 again (shows 5/9 on the now playing) and if i click forward, it starts playing track 6.  If i click back it goes back to track #4.  (showing again 5/9)

anyone else seeing this?

thx - dan

I made an update from 16430 to 16808 yesterday, and noticed this same erratic behaviour, its not bound to the number 4,5,6, happens in all places of the playlist pretty randomly, makes skipping very frustrating, and Im using a Sansa e260, 16430 doesnt have this.

Ok might be a stupid question, but are you sure that you don't have shuffle on?

I've never encountered such behavior lately, so I guess I can't help with your problem.
Can you reproduce the error with a standard procedure? If yes please describe it, it could help.

I think I'm seeing this, or something very similar (currently using r17601 on an iAudio X5).  All my songs are FLACs.

When I skip to the next track, it will frequently replay one of the last few tracks.  This happens a LOT.  Often the subsequent press of Next also replays another recent track.

I think this broke between the 3/13/07 build and the 5/17/08 build.  (I hadn't used my player much at all during that time, so I hadn't upgraded until recently.)

I do have Shuffle on.  The "Shuffle Repeat" option doesn't matter.

Try skipping ahead several tracks in a row without letting them play more than a few seconds.  Very often 1-2 of the ones you skipped will be played again.

I see this too with WMA tracks.  When it happens, if you check the current playlist, it will be out of sync (report that you are on a track that is different than the one currently playing).

Something similar is happening on my e280 with MP3s as well. I've noticed it for the past couple of weeks (I'm on build r17714 currently). In my case, the player often automatically skips a track or two in the playlist while continuing to list the track numbers in consecutive order on the WPS. So, for instance, the player will play track 1, track 2, track 3, track 6, track 7...but the WPS will display track 1, track 2, track 3, track 4, track 5...I can skip back to play the missing tracks and re-sync the playlist, but that's not much of a solution. It's getting more obnoxious than I expected.

With the understanding that these forums aren't the place to get things resolved: Has anyone filed a bug report on this behavior yet? I wasn't able to find one in my cursory search.

UPDATE: Well, after clean-installing Rockbox a couple days ago and manually setting up my configurations as they were before, this issue doesn't seem to have reappeared...I suppose I should have tried that before posting. Hindsight, eh? If the problem re-emerges, I'll post again.

Today I upgraded to build rockbox-iaudiox5-20080726 (from rockbox-iaudiox5-20080517), and it seems to have fixed the problem.
