'invalid or incompatible zip archive'

(1/1)

katieliz86:
I have just upgraded my laptop and leant that gigabeat room doesn't work on windows vista...
So I found out about rockbox.

When I installed rockbox onto my gigabeat I got an error message 'opening archive failed. invalid or incompatible zip archive', but then that 'installation 100% complete', so I assumed that it was ok.
I turned off the mp3 player, battery too, and when I turn it on again I get the messgae 'rockbox bootloader version ..... loading firmware. file not found'

What have I done wrong?!!
Do I need to download something further??
Please help!

Kate

MarcGuay:
Are you using RockboxUtility to install?  If so, try selecting the Installation tab and clicking "Install Rockbox".

If not, what unzipping program are you using?

XavierGr:
If the bootloader said "file not found" it means that it didn't find the rockbox firmware file "rockbox.gigabeat".

You can download the build again and extract it to your root one more time and see if that fails again:
http://build.rockbox.org/dist/build-gigabeatf/rockbox.zip

Maybe the archive got corrupt while you were downloading it.

Thanks Marc,

That's it working!  Now I just have to figure out how to take the encryption off all my files so I can listen to them!!

Thanks,

Kate

We have some information about that on the wiki:

Since Rockbox is now successfully installed, any further questions about how to use it should now be directed to the appropriate forum thread.

Enjoy Rockbox!  :)
