okay hello everybody i own a u2 apple ipod 30GB
(i am so desperate to get my ipod working agian im prepared to pay $15 via paypal to anyone who finds my solution)
i installed rockbox and was running it for about 2 weeks
i decided to go back to the normal apple firmware so i plugged it into my computer and used the rockbox utility to do a complete uninstall
it said it was finished, so i detached it from my computer and now when i try to turn it on this is the error i get
--- Quote ---Rockbox boot loader
Version: 2.0
IPOD version: 0xFFFFFFFF
TOSHIBA MK30008GAL
Partion 1: 0x0B 28537 MB
Loading Rockbox...
Error!
Can't load rockbox.ipod:
File not found
Hold MENU+SELECT to reboot
then SELECT+PLAY for disk mode
--- End quote ---
i have tried probably a total of 300 times to do that method and nothing happens! i cannot find any way for my computer to detect my ipod for me to correct the error.
if anybody has a solution and it works, as i mentioned above ill pay you $15 via paypal, thats how desperate i am..
thanks everbody
Llorean:
Hold Menu+Select. The INSTANT the screen clears, turn on the hold switch, and leave it on.

thats my main problem, whenever i hold MENU+SELECT nothing happens ive tried over 300 times and i cant get anything to happen, is it because i have a U2 ipod?
Llorean:
You should be holding it for about 20 seconds. This means that you've spent two hours, or so, holding menu and select over and over. You're simply doing it wrong if it's not working.

no what i ment is over the past 2 weeks ive tried it over 300 times, not all at once.
mk... i guess ill just keep on trying.. :-\
