Could someone please tell me where in the menu and settings i would be able to change output from my ipod 5.5G from stereo to mono? many thanks.

Please see section 6.7 of the manual.

Edit:  The manuals don't appear to be there at the moment.  Menu > Settings > Sound Settings > Channel Configuration
