WinFF Conversion Problems

<< < (2/3) > >>

Llorean:
Of the INPUT file, not the desired output file. The message "Error while opening codec for input stream #0.1" suggests that the version of ffmpeg you have is being choked by the audio stream of the file you're trying to convert.

Yuashu:
Well I'm dumb... I tried another file and it worked, though its really not the file I wanna convert. I'm unsure about how to check the audio type of the file, outside of the fact that I know its an .avi file.

I apologize for being un-informative. This is my first time doing A/V type work. How would I go about checking the audio format?

Llorean:
Well, ffmpeg should attempt to identify, and tell you what it thinks it is, in part of all the information before the error message.

Yuashu:
I think this is right:

"Stream #0.1: Audio vorbis, 48000 Hz, stereo, 0kb/s."

Is this right?

Llorean:
Yeah, but that suggests there's something strange about the input stream. 0kb/s is untrue (if it were there'd be no audio). I'm really not sure what to suggest for testing the avi file with. As far as I know, though, Vorbis shouldn't be in AVI containers. Does it work in programs (and most specifically, can you seek forward and backward in the file?)
