(MPEG Player) Having trouble getting Audio and Video to Sync
« on: March 21, 2008, 11:13:15 PM »
Nothing I have tried works. Different MPEG encoding schemes, different frame rates, nothing! Any opinions on this?

This is on a Sandisk Sansa e260 by the way.

Which method are you using and what parameters have you specified?  What options are set within Mpegplayer?

I've tried every combination I can think of within the settings, from dithering and frameskip to limiting fps and everything between. Maybe someone who has had the same problem can shed some light for me.

Going with the assumption the original (source) file is in sync...
First question is - does the converted file play in sync on your computer?

Second question is - would you detail what you use to convert videos, and what settings you have been trying?

well im having the same problem...except when i throw on Skip Frames and Limit FPS...but then my video starts to skip...and this is for any type ive done (made it 23fps all the way to 30fps, lowered the video bitrate and audio, no avail.)  i use erightsoft's SUPER and all my old videos before i upgraded to firmware (rockbox) are great and working fine, its just the new ones.  Im sorry if the description isnt any good, but if u want i have a video i can link to you?  it shows it on my mp3 (Sansa e250) and then on my computer

Rockbox does not support the same video formats as the Sansa OF.  Therefore I don't quite understand what you mean here:

Just to clarify: these options must be enabled if you want video and audio to be in sync. The possibility to disable them is just for debugging and performance measuring.

Hopefully this helps: I had the exact same problems on my e200 series with getting audio to sync. I tried every settting change and even kept a spreadsheet going to eliminate settings I had tried that didn't work.

I finally solved the problem by download Winff and copying in the correct settings file, as per the instructions in the MpegPlayer wiki:

http://www.rockbox.org/twiki/bin/view/Main/PluginMpegplayer

All videos have synched perfectly with the audio once I started using WinFF.
