Howto set the order that tracks playback?

Hi there.

I ripped an album into Ogg Vorbis format. On playback, it plays them in order of alphabetic order of the track names. I want to play it back in order of the track number.. which has been set e.g. "2/6".

Is that possible?

thanks,
Andrew

XavierGr:
You can always batch rename your audio files from their tags using a proper utility (e.g. MP3Tag, Godfather).

starboy5:
mmm.. ok...

Like... rename the track names to go from say

Rock on.ogg

to

03 - Rock on .ogg

??

It sounds like the database always sorts the tracks alphabetically??

That's a little annoying as some album's tracks flow into one another... and if they are re-arranged based on track name.. that flow is destroyed.

XavierGr:
I can't understand you. How can the flow of one album be re-arranged if you rename your files with the track data being first?

If the cd you ripped has 3 songs then the track tag for each song should be 01-03 and thus each file should be in order both in the database and in the file menu.

Now the only case that it could be out of order is when you put 2 albums on the same folder or the database shows more than one albums that are not arranged by name.

Also, have you read the wiki page for the database:

I am not sure but it might be possible to achieve what you want without renaming your files.

Chronon:
starboy5, can you clearly describe how you are creating your playlist?  You mention the Database, but if you choose a particular album then the songs within it should be listed in order of track number.  You can either insert the whole album into your playlist from the Database or just start playing one of the tracks.  If you choose < All Tracks > then it will give you a list sorted in alphabetical order.
