Gigabeat remote with Rockboy
« on: March 21, 2008, 02:40:05 PM »
Maybe somebody could help me out here...

It is frustrating playing games on Rockboy with the Gigabeat because all of the buttons are located on the side, which makes for very akward hand positioning. I am able to use the remote to play, except that it only recognizes the Volume Up and Volume Down keys. When I go to "Set Keys", it acts like it recognizes the other buttons when I press them, but they don't work when I actually try to play a game. Then again, Set Keys does say it is buggy, so maybe there is a manual way to set them?

Have you tried rotating the image 90 degrees through the menu? It's comfortable for me when I do that.

I tried it, but that wasn't comfortable either. I can't get used to controlling the directions with my right hand, and the small buttons are hard to use.

Well, there's a bit of research and hardware hacking that needs to be done before you're ready to program anything anyway.  The nature of the hardware will depend somewhat on what target you want to create it for.   As with any project, it would make sense to start putting your ideas/research down on a wiki page.  If you want to discuss this idea further then you could start a new topic in the Hardware forum.
