BGColor in Screendump is not uniform

(1/2) > >>

afruff23:
Hi, when I take a screendump of my gigabeat in either simulator or the actual player itself, the wps backdrop is not accurately rendered. Although the backdrop is mostly a single uniform color, the uniform areas are displayed as several colors for some reason. To see an example, download the attached file. Use an eyedropper tool to see that a large part of it is a single color. Set it as a backdrop. Take a screendump. Use an eyedropper tool to see that a large art of it alternates between a few colors rather than being a single color.

Is this inaccurate rendering done to every BMP file on a WPS?

Llorean:
The WPS is rendered in 16-bit color. If you use a 24-bit BMP file, it will be dithered, of course. This is probably what you're referring to.

afruff23:
How do I export to 16-bit color? Fireworks only allows 8 and 24-bit BMPs.

Llorean:
That's really something to ask whoever provides your image software...

afruff23:
Well, can you recommend me one? I do not know of any software which exports to 16-bit BMP.

EDIT: Or can you recommend me a batch converter which does not use dithering to go from 32 to 16 bit?
