Questions about Rockbox on Sansa e250

(1/2) > >>

akrk1986:
Hi,
I installed Rockbox version r16685m-080317 on my Sansa e250. It is connected to a Linux box (Ubuntu 7.10).
I have one problem and one question:
1. When I connect the device to the PC, it reboots, shows the boot loader. The last message from the boot loader is "Disabling database rebuild" and then it reboots again, loading the original Sandisk firmware. When it's disconnected from the PC, turning it off and on loads Rockbox. Any idea why this happens?

2. What video file formats are supported by Rockbox? If this is an RTFM question, please direct me to the FM (:-). If there is a thread about it, please point me to it.

Thanks,

Llorean:
Did you follow the official install instructions? There are several unofficial installers floating about, and they could be responsible for problems with the OF.

The manual is found at the link on the left labeled, of all things, "manual".

Because Rockbox doesn't have it's own USB mode you need to use the Sansa firmware to transfer files and charge.  There is tons of info on this in the wiki (also located on the left and labelled "wiki").

OK, the boot issue was indeed an RTFM question...thanks.

Now, regarding the 2nd issue - does Rockbox support additional video formats (that is, more than those supported bynative Sansa firmware)? What exactly are the specs for those formats and what programs are recommended to use to convert on Linux (mencoder?)?

Thanks again.
