Does Rockbox support 4GB SD card (was: HI I'm NEW)
bigbadjim:
I have a Sansa E-250 Version 1 The issue that I have is that Sansa does not have any support for a SD chip over 2GB I have a 4GB card installed. Does anyone know if I install Rockbox will I be able to tranfer files onto the 4gb SD chip?
This is why I would like to move over, also is rockbox stable for these?
Thanx for your input.

bigbadjim, welcome to the Rockbox forums. I've renamed your thread with a descriptive title, as required by our posting guidelines.
Rockbox supports 4GB SD cards. However, Rockbox does not yet have its own native USB mode, which means that for the time being, you need to use the Sansa firmware's USB mode. Since the Sansa firmware does not support cards over 2 GB, it will not recognize the 4 GB card, and you will need to use an external card reader/writer to put music onto the card. Once Rockbox's native USB mode is implemented, this workaround will no longer be necessary.
bigbadjim:
Im a little confused so do I maintain both firmwares on the player in order to use the USB side of the player, or is it just kept on the computer?
bigbadjim:
I do understand that I would load the chip seperatley on an independant drive.
Chronon:
Both firmwares live side by side on your player. The Rockbox bootloader will allow you to boot either Rockbox or the SanDisk firmware.
In order to start a USB connection I generally shut off my player and then connect the cable. The Rockbox bootloader auto-detects this and will boot into the SanDisk firmware with database rebuild disabled (which can take a long time if you move a lot of media files over).
(Next time please "modify" your post instead of posting a new message if no one has replied. Thanks!)
