C240 - Black Screen while playing music

(1/3) > >>

Vizz:
Hi, I'm new here. I got a rockbox'd C240 but its screen will turn into black when I playback certain songs. Just the screen turn black, everything funtion well. I still can hear sound from it, control it, and turn it off. I need to reboot it to get back the screen.

My C240 has r16681-080316 version rockbox while the song that played is in mp3 format - 320kbps - lame encoded with album art - 31 x 30 pixels - bitmap. I already try to update my rockbox but the problem still exist.

Any idea why this will happen to my C240?
Thanks.

You mean that Rockbox playbacks and runs fine overall, until a couple of files turn the screen blank (on all menus)?
Have you seen something in common with these files or is it just one file?

Does the backlight turns off completely until you reboot, or the screen colour turns black?

Is the album art embedded in the said mp3?
If it is embedded it should be ignored by Rockbox, though you could remove that tag from the specific file and see what's going on.

I can't really guess how this can happen from a corrupt mp3 file with possible weird tags. Are you sure that this behavior starts when playing that file?
Please also try to reproduce the problem with settings reset.

Vizz:
Yes. The Rockbox runs just fine. Only when it plays certain songs then the screen will turn black (the colour black while backlight still on) I've tried many times on the same song and the screen turn black everytime. Remove album art do fix the problem but not all.

I also found out that if I play that song and quickly switch to menu instead of now playing. It works just fine until I go back to now playing, the screen turn black again.

XavierGr:
Interesting, you should file a bug report on the bug tracker and maybe join on IRC to talk about it. I can't think what would cause that at the moment.

... and perhaps include a copy of one of the files that's causing this ...
