Sansa c250 No mass storage?
(1/1)
D00d:
Hi. I bought a Sansa C250 today. I was excited when unpackaged it. I wasn't when i discovered that it doesn't support mass storage. I read that you needed WMP 10. So I downloaded and installed it and Microsoft Bitched at me because my cd key was apparently not the one that came with the box. So i cant use that.
So i'd like to know how to make it mass-storage usable. I read a whackload of stuff on it but none of it worked.
Help?
EDIT: Version 03.01.14A
MarcGuay:
Look at the Sansa c200 page in the wiki, all the details are there.
D00d:
I didn't find anything helpful there.
MarcGuay:
--- Quote ---No MSC Mode
If you can't find the option to switch USB mode to MSC in order to install Rockbox, you have two options:
1. Try rolling back the Sansa firmware to an older version. Download version 1.01.00 from here (choose the letter version that matches your existing firmware). The files are compressed in .7z format; you can download 7-Zip to open them. Now enter Recovery Mode and upgrade the firmware. (Info gathered from here)
2. With the device off, engage the hold switch, press and hold the rewind button, plug the device in your computer. If done correctly, the Sansa will be recognized as an MSC device.

But the real problem is that you have a Sansa C200 v2, which Rockbox doesn't run on.
From the same page:
--- Quote ---Rockbox doesn't function on the v2 models. The v1 firmware is named 01.xx.xx, while the v2 firmware begins with 03. This version number can be retrieved under Settings->Info.
