troubleshooting a possibly toast ipod

cassette deck:
well my ipod nano 2gig is 100% non-responsive wheni plug it in, nothing. when i try to reset it, nothing. computer doesnt even recognize its there, i did have one problem with it before it died, i couldnt access the .rockbox folder.  if you have possible solutions please help.

Have you tried charging it?

Are you sure you are resetting it correctly?

That's a 1st gen. Should be back to look at the back at the #and off the top of my head Icannot recall but one 1st gen number has a problem holding a charge, and turning on. I own one that model, I'll check it.
