« on: March 15, 2008, 04:33:05 PM »
Hi.

If or rather when I choose to upgrade my JBR 20 Gb to 100-120 Gb then what do I do? do I need to reinstall rockbox?

By the way what do I have to look for HD wise besides the Gb and it beeing 2.5?

Great thanks just what I have been searching for.
Just one small question, the speed of the drive? can I go for any range or should it be within a certain range?

If you mean rotational speed, it in itself is unimportant, except for that it may (will) consume more power.  Personally I'd go for the one that uses the least power.

Okay, so more speed means new batteries? I have upgraded them a while ago but might go for new ones I have seen 2700 mAh batteries in the stores that ought to do it.

You should be able to see from the drive specs the current (in mA probably) it requires to spin up, access, idle, etc.  The higher they are, the less time your batteries will last, so I would pick the one with the lowest.  You can compare with your present drive.  If the spin up current is a lot higher than the present drive, it could not work at all (although I think that unlikely).

Okay will have to check that out, after the change of HD I guess I have to download a new version af Rockbox? I am running a very old version something like 5-6 years...

I am watching a HD on e-bay it says 5V 600 mA DC should this work?

Yeah, you will definitely want to upgrade (I can't even list the things that have been done in five years!).

He! Yeah I know been thinking about it once in a while upgrading HD and rockbox but have not got around to do it and other projects interferred, house, children etc... but recently I have been thinking about getting a new mp3 with more space and then I came back to the Rockbox site and hey why not upgrade my lovely and trust worthy JBR20...
