Remove Rockbox ?!

<< < (2/7) > >>

AlexP:
It is possible to remove the Apple firmware, yes, but it isn't how we recommend installing it.

You need to ask the guy who installed it how he did it.  I would hope he followed the official instructions.

eekhoornstaartlolly:
and if he didn't, is there a way to undo it? I mean is the software on the disk of apple and can I just put it on the ipod again?

AlexP:
Yes, you should just be able to restore it with itunes - sorry, I forgot to mention this before.  This will effectively also format your disk.

eekhoornstaartlolly:
so even if he for example (I really don't know what happened exactly) deleted all of the original firmware and without rockbox that ipod is just one dead thing....you can still put on the original software 1.0 from the cd?

btw, afterwards it will work normally again? just like it's new

Chronon:
That's correct.  The emergency Disk Mode is stored in flash.  If you connect the iPod to a computer in this mode then iTunes should agree to Restore it.  This is also a way to get the Apple firmware (and proper partition table, formatting, etc.) onto a new replacement drive.

Barring some kind of hardware failure the Restore function in iTunes is supposed to restore the unit to factory condition.  There are other ways to do this also, but iTunes provides the simplest way if you have access to that.
