Remove Rockbox ?!

<< < (6/7) > >>

Chronon:
Is iTunes possibly loading a modified firmware?  I'm leaning toward damage as well, though I can't explain why it should behave under Rockbox and not under Apple's firmware.  Go ahead and install an earlier version of the Apple firmware if you can find one.

I'm running low on ideas here.

eekhoornstaartlolly:
well, i have downloaded the ipodsetup 1.1, which has been recommended by rockbox when other versions don't work.
I have it, it is on my desktop, I used it and installed it, though nothing really different happens, it just shows a wizard and then it sayd I need to restart my computer. but I don't think it did anything to my ipod.

I still have the disk and I will see if the ipodsoftware is on there and run that exe.

maybe I should start it by itunes instead of just opening the exe.

pff, i'm so new to all this stuff

GodEater:
Out of curiousity, how long are you waiting after trying to start the apple firmware before deciding it's not working, and restarting ?

eekhoornstaartlolly:
how do you mean exactly?
I tried it several times and it didn't work. eg: yesterday i restored it, and it didn't work it just stood there on the apple logo. I let the battery run dry. I charged it up today and let it synchronise, though at itunes it looks like I have the original ipod software on it.

when it was synchronised and charged, i restarted it again and still just the apple logo that comes on.
I tried restoring it again, it finished succesfully and after finishing restoring, it restarted and still just the apple logo.

Chronon:
Well you could try reseating the LCD.  It's possible that a bad connection is causing this.  Other than that I don't really have any more suggestions to you.  You have successfully removed Rockbox.  The restore function seems to have completed properly.  Your iPod just seems to have some problem associated with the LCD.  Maybe a component went bad?

It seems that you might have more luck from this point with an iPod specific technical support forum.
