How to Make One of my Pictures into a Background?

I've been trying to set a picture as my background but it's not working. What I am doing is taking a picture, resizing it to 320 x 240 and saving it as a .bmp file. Then when I put it on my iPod I click "Set As Background" but when I do that it says "Background Failed" and it just winds up smeared across the screen. What am I doing wrong?

What build are you using? Is it a custom build (I think it is)? If it is, ask about it in the unofficial build's topic.

Sorry, kind of a noob to this but I think it's just the standard build. I just used the Rockbox Installer and followed the instructions. I'm running it on an iPod 5G.

How did you convert the image? And, are you sure it is 320 x 240 (check under Properties)?

I just saved it as a .bmp using Paint. And I just checked the file size and it's actually 318 x 239. Will that little of a difference really affect it?

An image should be the same resolution as the LCD in order to be used as a background.  I'm not too surprised that it fails with a mis-sized picture.

Did you make it the exactly correct resolution for your version of iPod (they are all different)? How did you convert it? What format is it in?

its bmp and 320-240 ,,, my ipod is a nano with the latest rockbox build

The Nano screen size is 176x132 pixels.
