Rockbox reads the filenames, not the track titles. This means that you need to use the file browser for playing tracks. Also, if you use Itunes to sync your music you won't be able to use voice -- Itunes renames the files to something random and puts them below the iTunes_Control folder. To have the filenames spoken, put the files yourself somewhere else and create the talk files as you did before.

filenames meaning, it will read for example:
AHDN.mp3 instead of a hard days night or something like that?
no i cannot use itunes because apple refuses to make their stuff accessible:(
so in other words no matter what i do to the files it won't ever say a proper songtitle?
if that is the case I might as wenn stick with the spelling, at least then I will somehow be able to recognize the title.
from the help file it came across as if it would read properly then once voice is installed.
ok, then i guess i dumb the voice clips again to make room for music an d just stick with spelling or the regular ipod software.
that was a missunderstanding on my part then, i guess:, the reason i wanted rockbox was that a ,also blind, friend told me it would make ipod somewhat accesible for blind ppl so that I would not have to browse and play a few secs of every file to figure out if that is the song I want to listen to. :(
the person that will ever come up with a screenreader for mp3 players will probably make a killing, wish I was more of a pc person.
thanks anyways!
take care

There is software around that can bulk rename your mp3 files to something based on the tags, so your file could be named "a hard days night.mp3" instead of ahdn.mp3. Someone else will have to recommend specific software though, I'm a command-line linux user.
Febs:
Some of the programs available for Windows that will do this include mp3tag, Tag and Rename, and Media Monkey.
