I can of course see why a dev would be preferable, and on their behalf thank you for the offer, buta) Most of rockbox applies to all the software codec playersb) Devs that already have an X5, um, already have one
So basically, you want to send it to someone so long as they're not likely to use it? This makes very little sense toward forwarding the project...
I didn't say they weren't likely to use it. Just that it wouldn't cause a major shift in priorities.
a) Most of rockbox applies to all the software codec players
Unless it is low level hardware drivers, work done on Rockbox applies to many players, not a specific one.
If he wanted to, though, he could offer it to someone (even a dev) for parts or repair. Someone with a broken X5 could use parts from this one to get a fully working X5 out of it.But like everyone has said, afruff23, the X5 port is very mature now, and aside from USB-OTG, there's really not much to do with it.

I wanted to specifically give it to a Rockbox dev seeing as how I wanted to make a donation to the project.
Then in that case, you have to ask him yourself if it's okay to send him the X5.
Quote from: BigBambiThen in that case, you have to ask him yourself if it's okay to send him the X5.I didn't have a criteria for certain devs. I had a PRIORITY though. LinusN was my number one priority because he was especially involved in the early developing of the X5 port (my first player) and he currently owns a Gigabeat (my current player).Everybody makes priorities. Such is the nature of "human action" (e.g. the book by Ludwig von Mises).
