Gigabeat F20 freezing/hanging during playback

I am new to Rockbox and have recently installed Version r16550-080308 on my Gigabeat F20 to alleviate compatibility issues with Windows Vista.

I love the control Rockbox gives me over my player and the options available to me, however I am having trouble with Rockbox hanging/freezing during playback.  When left to play for a period of time, the player will hang/freeze part way through a track and show the WPS.

This can occur during playback of any track at any time.  When this occurs, I can press the A button to either pause/unpause (although this really has no effect as there is no playback occurring) or I can press any other key to turn on the backlight – that is all.  All that I have been able to do is turn the player completely off by switching off the battery and restarting the unit.

Has anyone had any similar experiences, or does anybody know of a solution to my problem?

Quite strange, I have never encountered that behavior on my F40 even with latest builds.
So, it basically hangs in the WPS without any response except the backlight?

If it doesn't hang completely (and only music stops) can you navigate to other screens (main menu, file viewer etc.)?
Have you tried to load older builds on your unit? Maybe this specific build has an issue. It would be good to rule that out by trying other builds too.

Also have you noticed any strange behavior in the original firmware before you upgrade to Rockbox?
