Can't change usb mode on c250??

I recently purchased a refurb c250 through buy.com. It didn't come with a manual, but from what I've gathered I need to change the usb mode to install rockbox. I go to settings, but there's nothing in the that pertains to the usb!? The firmware is 1.01.05. I can't get it to be recognized by the rockbox installer, nor can I do a manual install. Please help!!!

You may be able to roll backwards to an earlier firmware version, but I'm skimpy on the details. Use Google. ;)
