Should I just return this Sansa C250?

I'm confused about whether or not I can ever install Rockbox on this machine or not. Some things I read imply that v2 firmware means I have hardware that won't work with Rockbox and other notes imply that Rockbox might work if I change my firmware version.
I have a Sansa c250 with version V03.01.14A. I bought it new less than a month ago. This is the firmware it came with, not an upgrade.
Any help appreciated.

You have a V2 and it can not be made to work with rockbox short of developing a new version of rockbox that runs on V2 sansas (which are actually completely different players then V1 Sansas).
