Sansa e280r hangs on Rockbox screen when hooked to USB dock while off
ToneDeF:
While turned off, when I connect my Sansa e280R to any USB dock (Griffin, Timex, inMotion), the unit turns on, shows the Sansa logo, the blue wheel lights up and stays on (I have the wheel light configured in Rockbox to shut off) and then freezes on the Rockbox screen. The backlight timer still works while this is happening. If I then disconnect it from the USB dock, the wheel light finally shuts off, Rockbox resumes, and then I can reconnect to the USB dock without any problems. This is really annoying to deal with when I want to use it in my car with the dock.
I am running version r16523-080305 of Rockbox. The last version of Rockbox that I had installed back on February 26th did not manifest this problem.
Is this a known bug?

Do these docks provide some kind of "real" USB (i.e. do they actually enumerate the device), or do they just provide power ?

Good question. I'm not 100% sure, but I believe that the docks just provide power and an audio-pass-thru capability (i.e. no need to connect to headphone port for audio-out).
[OTHER INFO]
While off, when I connect with the appropriate usb cable connected to a PC, the device boots into the original Sansa firmware as normal and shows the "Connected" screen.
While Rockbox is running, when I connect with the appropriate usb cable connected to a PC, Windows attempts to connect with the USB device (painfully slow), but it doesn't end up working (e.g. no extra drives appear in Windows Explorer). I'm aware that USB support for Rockbox is still very much a work in progress.

Are you running your own build, or an official build ? With the official builds, it should reboot when plugged into a PC.
Did you install a new bootloader ? Home-built or official ?

I am only using the official build of the Rockbox firmware and standard bootloader -- nothing custom.
I updated the Rockbox firmware on my Sansa early this morning (ah, RockBoxUtil makes it so easy) and the behavior is still the same when I connect to any Sansa dock while the Sansa is powered off.
Keep in mind that I do not have the Sansa dock connected to a PC -- it is only connected to a power source (e.g. wall socket, cigarette lighter/power jack in car, etc.) to charge/power the Sansa -- the audio is patched through the Sansa connector to the Sansa dock which then outputs the audio to external speakers.
