8 GB SDHC
« on: March 06, 2008, 11:54:20 PM »
Hi, I installed rockbox on my Sansa e250r but I can't see my 8gb card. I can see my 2 gb card fine. When I put the 8 gb card in the action icon in the top right corner spins for a few seconds like it's thinking but then nothing happens, it never shows it in the files screen. I have the current version.  I apperciate any help. I need more gigs of music pumping into my head. ;

I don't know if this will help. When I go into debug then into view disk info, it looks like this

Since you started a new topic here, I've removed your old topic. In the future, if you place a thread in the wrong forum, please simply ask in that thread that mods move it, rather than starting a duplicate, as there's some risk of someone thinking you hadn't read the guidelines and were starting multiple threads on the same subject.

It'd be interesting to know if anybody has been able to read an 8 GB SDHC card on the Sansa e250.

I just got a 4 GB SDHC and it reads fine on my e250, but I'm on the look for an 8GB one...

I successfully have an 8GB microSDHC working with my Sansa e280R running Rockbox.  The microSDHC card I have is made by SanDisk.

Until USB is properly working RockBox, the only way I can put songs on the 8 GB microSDHC, is if the card is connected to the PC via the SanDisk micro-reader.  The original Sansa firmware will not acknowledge any high-capacity microSDHC card, so I'm unable to access it from Windows when the Sansa is connected with the appropriate USB cable.

Yeah, I'm still not sure why mine doesn't work. The reason I installed rock box is to use the 8GB card.

were you able to copy files into the memory from your PC using a card reader?

I was able to using a card reader. My friends blackberry was also able to see the card.  I do have it formatted to Fat 32.

You say that you put files on using a card reader.  Then, when you try to use this card with Rockbox it does not read it?

Correct, I can always see my 2gb card under files, but not the 8gb. It doesn't even show that it's there.

Can you provide some more details about the card that you're using?   I wonder if any other people have successfully used the model of card that you have.

Can you also report which revision of Rockbox you are using?

Hmm... I find it interesting that ToneDeF has nominally the same card working in his Sansa.

jstahl20, please modify your post if no one has replied yet.

I don't really know what's causing your incompatibility when ToneDeF is able to  use his card.  Though, if ToneDeF's setup works using the same revision of Rockbox as you then this seems to indicate some non-Rockbox factor.  I could guess that you have different SanDisk firmware on your machines that perform different intialization of the hardware.  Or it could be that some variance in hardware performance between the two is not allowing it to work.

I guess the easiest thing to try would be to check whether or not you have the same SanDisk firmware revisions on your machines.  It's a stab in the dark, but if they are different then you could try changing your version to the same version as ToneDeF and see if that changes your compatibility issues at all.

Any other ideas?
