Problems when plugging in ipod to computer.
Xanatu:
ever since i downloaded rockbox, theres been a problem hooking it up to my computer.everytime i hook it up,there is an error message that says that my usb device is unrecognizable and it is malfunctioning.when i go to explore to see if my ipod is there,it appears for like 5 seconds and then it closes.so i used my other usb,and the same message comes up.i know its not my usb, because itunes is able to read my ipod.what is the problem?
Febs:
Rockbox does not yet have its own USB mode. There has been significant progress recently in developing a native Rockbox USB driver, but it has not been officially implemented yet in the user builds, so until that happens, you need to use the Apple USB mode. Put your iPod in disk mode before connecting to USB, or put the hold switch on before you plug in the USB cable so that the Apple firmware loads.
Xanatu:
how would i put it in disk mode?
Xanatu:
ok i did it with the apple firmware, but it still has the same problem.the ipod directory appears for like five secs, and then dissapears.why is this happening??
linuxstb:
Do you have itunes installed, and the "Enable use as a disk" (I'm not sure of the exact name) option unchecked? (it's in the settings screen for your ipod in itunes).
If so, then check that box to tell itunes to not block access to your ipod from explorer.
