You need to patch the source code then compile rockbox.  Check out www.rockbox.org/wiki/SimpleGuideToCompiling

Thanks. I still have a problem: my command prompt doesn't recognize both patch and diff commands (I installed both).
I placed the CF8 patch file in the same directory as rockbox in order to apply the patch, but the cmp keeps giving the same answer.

Are you using native linux, cygwin, VMWare, or co-linux?

I am using Windows, and downloaded the install version for it.

Which install version of what?  To compile under Windows you either need cygwin, VMWare or Colinux
