Archos Display
« on: March 03, 2008, 05:58:35 PM »
Hi!

This is my first post, I know this site for a very long time, and I think I was in this forum years ago also.
I have the archos 20GB Recorder, very nice thing everything ok, I dont know why, but the display is out of order, the display light is ok, it goes on and off, I want to say that it works, but on the display is a big black spot and nothing on the display happens if i turn the unit on or off or go through the menus.

If Rockbox wouldn't have the speech function I couldn't do anything! THANKS!  :D

After that I bought a sony nw-hd3, it is ok, but not comparable to the archos, the shuffle play isnt really shuffled and and and... I dont like this mp3 player.

Right now I am using a tiny IPod shuffle.

I worked a little bit with the archos, it is ok, and in the colder days it is no problem to put it in your jacket, in the summer it is too heavy but then I have the ipod shuffle.

My question is if a normal "electrician" or if someone knows another person or whatever who could repair my archos, i like it very much and would love to have it in a healthy condition.

Everything works, just the display is wrecked.  :-\

If I think about what my archos has experienced through the years, cold, hot days, it fell on the floor a few times, but it still works!

I would scream if someone would programm something like this for the sony nw-hd3, but I dont think it will happen...

If you know any help about the display, please tell me!  ;)

Have a nice day
Frank

See http://forums.rockbox.org/index.php?topic=14342.0 .  Also note this should be in Repairing broken players.
