[NOT] Bricked e270?

(1/2) > >>

scrow98:
I'd sure appreciate some help here!

I installed Rockbox on my e270 about 15 minutes ago.  Everything seemed to work fine for about 10 minutes, and then it all went bad.  Now, the blue ring is constantly lit.  I can't get it to turn on, and Windows no longer recognizes the USB device.

I tried to boot into Recovery mode as instructed on this site, but it doesn't seem to work.  The player just sits there with the lighted ring and nothing happens.

What do I do?!

Febs:
Hold the power button for about 15 seconds.  The player should shut down and you should then be able to restart it.

Well I thought I tried everything, but I guess I didn't hold the power button down long enough.  I tried it, and it worked.

Thanks a lot for your help!

Audio Addict:
I have an e-260 and it bricks if I plug it in to the USB/PC cable while Rockbox is running.

Best to turn off the Sansa before you plug it into the USB/PC cable.

I haven't had a problem with the separate charger cable that is plugged into the wall when I plug in the e-260.

It's just the USB/PC cable that makes it brick up if plugged in while the Sansa is still on while running Rockbox.

GodEater:
Okay - can everyone just stop using the "brick" word like it's going out of fashion.

It's pretty near impossible to "brick" a Sansa - so please stop telling everyone you can.

I refer back to my statement regarding the iPod, which applies here too :

"for the record, the rockbox recommended way to brick your ipod is this: Use a hammer. A lot. Vigourously, and with gusto."

There really aren't many other ways to do it.
