That is one way, yes.

Seriously, please try reading those pages, they tell you how to do it.  If you have specific questions not answered there, then get back to us

I'm assuming you have an ipod video, in which case, you will get much better video playback in the original Apple firmware (Rockbox doesn't make use of the proprietory video decoding hardware inside the ipod video).

But you can easily switch between Rockbox and the Apple firmware after you've installed Rockbox - just toggle the hold switch when you turn your ipod on to start the Apple firmware.

Is that how one can download videos from the iTunes store/site and play them back?  I'd heard that the 'Pod Video was limited that way, which was OK for me since I primarily plan to use it as a straight MP3 player, but I can see wanting to OCCASIONALLY download a video file for playback on trips.

I assume that one would need to boot to the Mac OS before connecting to iTunes,m in order for iTunes to properly move the video file, yes?  If it's more involved than that, please let me know.

  Thanks!

Chronon:
Currently, you have to boot into Disk Mode or into the Apple firmware to get a USB connection anyway.
