iPod Nano 1G wont boot, or go into disk mode...

(1/2) > >>

Ductoman16:
I have a iPod Nano !st Generation that I tried to install rockbox on, and now It's stuck on the loading screen, telling me that it can't find the rockbox.ipod file. It also says to restart, then put it in disk mode, which just seems to not work. So I definitely need help...

Llorean:
Try the disk mode again. It will work if you get it right, it happens before any Rockbox code gets run, and nothing we do can remove it.

Then you need to go and recheck the manual, as you've installed the bootloader, but you didn't do the part for installing Rockbox itself properly.

Ductoman16:
Ok, i've tried to access disk mode, possibly more than 100 times now, I've tried every possible way to push the select and play buttons, and I've also tried every other button combination in hopes of something happening. And still nothing.

Llorean:
Hold Menu and Select. As soon as the screen clears, hold down Select and Play, at the same time. Select is the center button. Continue holding them down until you're in disk mode.

Disk mode is in flash, something we do not include any code to write to. If you can get to the message where it says it can't load Rockbox.ipod, that means that the code in flash is working, and disk mode will work. So I still have to believe you are doing something wrong.

Ductoman16:
Well, it still doesn't seem to be working, and I've never had any problems getting into disk mode before.. I'm assuming that the only way to fix it would be to go to disk mode, so I guess I'll just keep trying it till it works...
