I was thinkin maybe if i put the PP5022.mi4 file on my card, and cut/paste into the root directory, it might fix the problem.

It's unlikely, but possible. If it fixes the problem, it means you somehow causes several different parts of the firmware partition to be corrupted in exactly the right way to only break USB mode. Very unlikely.

Hardware problems tend to require replacement hardware. Know anybody with a Sansa and a cable you can borrow? You've already tried another computer, so you can rule out the USB port on your computer, probably.

Purchase Griffin's USB charger brick for Sansas - it comes with a spare cable.

Or, order a new one straight from SanDisk.
