Should games on the Sansa e250 have sound?
« on: February 29, 2008, 10:36:17 AM »
I get no sound when playing any of the games. Is this not supported yet, or is there a setting I need to fix?

Thanks in advance!

Most of the games in Rockbox have no sound. This is how they were written.

Only Doom, Rockbox, and ZXBox will have any sound to them.

Music should continue to play in most of them though...

See, my version of Doom isn't playing any sound. And I have the sound up in the settings.

*UPDATE*

Oops, I figured it out! I thought I was supposed to turn the sound on in-game. Found the settings were before the game started.

Thanks everyone!

Doom should play sound effects, but not music. As of this writing, we don't have support for music playback in Doom as of yet.

Or MIDIs in general, right? ??? I used to have a huge collection of those (mostly synths of game soundtracks).

I believe that MIDI is already in SVN (through a plugin), but you need a patch set for it.

Thanks for the link. I'm about to give it a whirl. ;)

Side note: Have you heard of Timidity? That might be interesting for someone to look at.

EDIT: Someone already has, I just scrolled up on the linked page. :-[
