questions about updating rockbox

if i wanna update my rockbox in my ipod 5g, what i need to do is just to replace the new one onto the old one in my ipod?

i also want to know is it necessary  for me to update my rockbox frequently?

You simply unzip the new build to the root of the drive, just like during installation.  If you used the Rockbox Utility, you can use that to stay up to date.

As for frequency of updating, do it when you want.  Some update when there's a feature added that's desirable, some update daily, others weekly.  It's your call.
