Not Bricked e250R

(1/1)

brian c:
Attempted to Rockbox my Sansa e250R. I followed the directions here:
http://www.rockbox.org/twiki/bin/view/Main/SansaE200RInstallationFromWindows

Managed to get to the step where I copied the .mi4 files to the directories. After disconnecting and rebooting, the ScanDisk screen comes up, displays "Updating Firmware" and reboots. But im rebooting into nothing but the blue click ring. So I think I have a bricked unit.

Here is what I have done:

1) Attempted to boot into Manufacturing Mode but get nothing but the click ring blue. Have to remove the battery to cycle power.
2a) Recovery mode does boot up. Copy the rockbox .mi4 file into the partition, and remove usb. The unit will reboot back into "Load Main Image Failed" screen.
2b) Tried recover mode with the original sansa rhapsody-1.0.2.31 .mi4 file and again no luck.
3) Repeated step 2 with the sansa.fmt file with again no luck.

Right now I just want a factory unit. I will buy another unit (non-R) to Rockbox but I need his one up and running.

Thanks!

Is yours a true e200R? What happened when your ran e200rpatcher?

brian c:
Close this out! I resolved my problem.

The Rhapsody mi4 file was the problem (pp5022.mi4). Tried another file (1.02.15a.mi4) in recovery mode without the format file and its solved my problem.

Maybe I didn't have a "true" Rhapsody e250R since this was a refurb.

zajacattack:
Yes, it must have been a vanilla if that firmware worked.

AlexP:
I have changed the title of your thread so as not to unduly alarm people.  We do ask that you verify first before claiming something is bricked, as with everything over than a bad flash on the iriver H100/H300 this is nigh on impossible.
