Cannot View Videos With the MPEG Player on Ipod Nano

Ok, first, i successfully installed ROCKBOX on my Ipod Nano without any problems

Doom and other games work great

I then wanted to watch movies so i downloaded WinFF and added the presets that were provided.  I then transfered a newly converted .mpg movie to my Ipod without any problems

however

when i tried to view the video i got this message across my ipod's screen:

Can't Open
/.rockbox/rocks/viewers/mpegplayer

I have gotten this message for every video i tried to play
this even happens when I hold down the center button and go to "OPEN AS" and select the mpegplayer.....

I do not know what the problem is and any help would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks in advance!

Does the file /.rockbox/rocks/viewers/mpegplayer exist? Note that the .rockbox directory may be hidden, depending on your file manager's settings.

Try extracting a current build onto your player, letting it overwrite existing files (it will not overwrite settings).

The file should be /.rockbox/viewers/mpegplayer, not /rocks/viewers, if memory serves. Something is perhaps wrong with viewers.config.

so i'll just install it again. does that mean i need to install the patch again? and fonts and everything?

No, just unzip a daily build (or whatever build you were using) again to see if a file was corrupted and if it fixes it.

when i first installed rockbox onto my ipod i had to install an ipod booter. i forget its exact name but i put it on my ipod and it came from this site

No, that won't affect it. Llorean thought you meant you used a patch and compiled your own build (I assume).

Ah, "install the bootloader." Please be careful with terms. Installing a patch means something quite different.

oh sorry, my fault!

hmmm i just recopied the rockbox files for the Ipod nano 1st generation

put in and tried to play another mpg video and got the same message.... should I just uninstall rockbox completely and then reinstall it?

Could you open the file viewers.config in your .rockbox folder using a text editor of some sort, and paste the line for mpegplayer here?

Okay, two more questions:
1) What SVN revision are you running (I believe it's in the system menu, version)
2) Put a .jpeg file on the player, and click on it, and see if you get a similar error message.

alright....

1) when I went to System>Version- i gave a similar message to the MPEG one i got however it then showed me the version number ( which might have been what you wanted to begin with, in which case sorry)

anyway heres the version number (if it helps)- r16354-080219


2) I then impoted a Jpeg file and also recived a similar message to the MPEG one

That's a 6 day old version. We ask that you be up to date when asking for help. Try updating to the current official version and see if your problem persists.
