where is the how to install rockbox?

ok found but next problem it wants ... "browse for downloaded version of original firmware... well which one is that i tried the h300.hex file and the korean 1.29 one i got there and also the euro 1.29 but none work

What do you mean "none work"? What exactly are you doing, and what exactly is happening?

rockbox utility is what im using and im select5ing complete installation then it asks me for the original download of the firmware... which i dont get at all

What do you mean by "I don't get at all?" Please try to be more precise. Do you mean "When I download it, I don't get a file" or "I don't understand what it's asking for" or what?

i dont get at all lol its only missing the word it so i dont get it at all.

i dont get what its asking for because from what i understand its asking for the original firmware file which i kept in another folder just incase which is the h300.hex file

have u got the rockbox utility? if so follow what its asking for if u want more information as im limited with what i can say through only words

I'm quite certain if you stop and think about it, you'll be able to tell me. There are very few ideas that cannot be expressed with words (what else do you have to express them with?) but you seem intent on using vague statements. Stop and take your time, please.

It's asking you for an H300.hex file, yes. It needs to modify that file. Please try to read the rest of the manual to get a general idea of what it's trying to do.

well i did select that file and it didnt work either

What does "it didn't work" mean? Did it give an error message? You REALLY need to be more precise. I can't read your mind.

ok ive selected to browse for the orifinal firmware file ive selected it then clicked ok msgs in window are the following "starting bootloader installation" next msg is "could not dtect firmware type" and progress stance down the bottom still says 0%

well the h300.hex is the original hex file b4 any firmware updates at all.. so its the original but my firmware version atm on the iriver is the 1.29 k version which i also selected since the original never worked and this current version didnt work either

Please use real words, as per the forum guidelines. Not words like "b4". If you haven't read the guidelines, you should do so. If you have, be aware they are strictly enforced.

Try the "manual install" section of the installation instructions, and use a firmware version that is specifically one of the ones mentioned as being compatible.
