USB Speakers - Any Problem With This Idea?

The DAC is there, however the amplifier chip has no markings what so ever.  Reverse engineering an SMT circuit board would require more time than I care to spend.

I am now looking at alternatives.  

One question for those more knowledgeable than I am; is there a difference between the analog audio out from the Sansa connector and the analog audio out from the headphone jack?  I am guessing no, else there would be issues when docking the player.

But hey I've been wrong before (see previous posts to this thread!).

The output impedance is different, since the headphone jack drives headphones, while the line out is meant to drive a transistor.
