Cannot get file to play
« on: February 24, 2008, 03:20:42 PM »
I have 21 tracks I copied off of my 1602 A.D. CD-ROM. They are supposed to be PCM wav encoded, but on rockbox they always play faster than normal and with background static.

Windows says the following about the files:
1) 705kbps bit rate
2) 4 bit audio sample size
3) 2 channels
4) 22 kHz audio sample rate
5) Audio format is PCM

I can email anyone one or more of the files if they want to analyze it further. If there is any other information that you need, let me know, and I will gladly provide it.

Is there a way to covert, rip, and/or get these files to play correctly?

Use a program like Audacity to convert them to MP3s or Vorbis files.

Audacity, WMP, iTunes, etc. all do the same thing as rockbox. They play the file too fast and with too much static.

Any other suggestions or info you need?

The information windows reads is incorrect, so they likely have a bad header.  You could convert them to mp3, but the mp3s would likely also be corrupted.

If they came from a music CD, rerip them with a better program.  If they came from a data cd, you'll need to find something that can play them normally and then convert them to standard wav or mp3 files using that.

On, the CD, the music is in D:\Anno1602\MUSIC8
The CD rippers I tried can't find the music. Is there a way around this at all?

If theres files+folders on the CD, its a data cd and you will not be able to rip it.  See option #2 in my previous post.

Windows media player, Quicktime, iTunes, Audacity, and Real player cannot play it.

At this point, I am completely lost as to what to do. Could I send you the file?

Not sure if I can help you, but you can email me one of the files if you want and I will have a go at it.
