Will Rockbox Erase My iPod Memory?

Hi, I want to install Rockbox on my iPod but I have it set so that I manually manage my music, which means that none of it is on my computer and if I lose the files on my iPod it's gone forever. Is there any possiblity of Rockbox erasing my memory when I install it? And if there is how can I avoid that?

The act of installing rockbox will not delete the contents of your iPod.
