Jukebox Recorder 20 - No Database Option in Main Menu
(1/1)
christophay:
Hi, I just upgraded my old Jukebox Recorder 20 and am running Rockbox 2.5 (freshly downloaded, off the root directory, not flushed) - but contrary to the nice manual the ID3 tag Database is not even showing up as and option on the main menu???
Am I left with running this using Files only? - that's hardly an improvement from the original Archos operating system.
What am I missing here? - also the voicemenus don't work even though I have english.voice in the .rockbox directory... >:(

Version 2.5 is several years old, and while there haven't been any formal release versions since then, Rockbox has progressed significantly in the meantime. The database was added to the main menu long after 2.5 was released. If you'd like to use the database, try using a current build.

The voice file needs to be in the langs folder, not .rockbox (langs is a subfolder of .rockbox)
And I'm quite a bit surprised, as the "releases" link on the website clearly tells that there is no current release and advises to use a current build.

:) Thanks - i now understand the difference between 'built' and 'release'. Got the right one going - database works fine.
Moved the right voice file into the langs directory but still am not getting any voice-menus.
bluebrother:
Are you using the correct voice file? The voice file needs to match the selected UI language (i.e. if you chose the language english the voice file is "english.voice", if your language is german then it's "deutsch.voice" (same basename as "deutsch.lng")). Also, make sure you have a recent voice file -- Rockbox Utility can download an english voice file for you (note that the current binary of Rockbox Utility has a bug that prevents building a voice file yourself -- the generated file will be too small. Updated binaries will get released soon)
