apllying patches

I have an ipod video 30 gig and i  have the usb debug patch and the pong multi pulse patch i downloaded from the patch place on the left side of the home page and i cant figure out how to use the patch program. i downloaded and installed the patch and diff things for windows but i cant figure out how to use it.

For development on Windows, we really recommend Cygwin.

Really?  VMWare is miles faster, so long as your PC is at all modern.  I would recommend VMWare any day over cygwin:

VMWare runs in Windows and creates a virtual machine that runs Linux.  In others words, it allows your Windows PC to run Linux.

oh sorry i downloaded cygwin and it would be downloading from the mirrors in the setup. i downloaded 2 patches from the patch place on the left side of the screen. one for pong and one for a usb fix.

I doubt anyone has enough spare time and/or patience to walk you through the whole process.  Try reading the pages they directed you to and checking out the "For Developers" section of the documentation index (I believe there's even something called the SimpleGuideToCompiling).

i got a quick question for cygwin. i have built and complided  everything for rockbox can i just open cygwin again ad another patch and compile it and have the other two patches i did earlier?

I have you have previously applied another patch to the source, then you apply an additional patch then compile, then yes, the compiled binary will have both patches.
