Did it the automatic way - no Rockbox
« on: February 22, 2008, 07:01:28 AM »
First time (attempted) user - did it the automatic way, switched everything off, rebooted and....same old iaudio splash screen - no rockbox.
Any idea what I may be missing ?
It seemed to work.

We need more information to be able to help you. Begin with telling us which player model you have.

iAudio X5L (That would help, wouldn't it ?  ::) (what a silly sod I am...)
Strangely, plugged it in to recharge, and the firmware kicked in.
Rockbox seems to be now in place - still charging though, so I'll tell in a little while.
I'd like a theme more akin to the iAudio one though - is there such ?
Incedentally, how many bookmarks does Rockbox allow ? 20 on the iAudio one seemed a bit minimal (for me anyways !) ;D
I seem to have lost my bookmarks - do they get deleted upon installation of Rockbox ? No big deal, as I can always do them as I need them, pretty sure where each is (audiobooks) - and one other thing - the backlight doesn't give much time before going out. I tried to find it in settings without luck.

The bootloader will only be flashed if the charger is connected so that might be the reason, I guess Rbutil should mention that... Rockbox uses its own bookmarking so it will not recognize the ones created by the Original Firmware. For your other questions, i point to our fine manual.

Fair enough, I'll have a shufti at the manual then if the answers are indeed there !
