Also, what unzip program are you using?

In MSC mode it's called a removable disc. In MTP mode it's called a Sansa with an icon that resembles a cell phone.
The unzip program is the native WindowsXP Home program.

Problem solved! The official latest build of Rockbox is installed and working. :) I finally figured out the instruction...or Manual...lead me to believe something that isn't true. I felt the only way to install RB on my e250 was the way described in the manual. However, I downloaded the current build, extracted the file to my Sansa....after formatting...and then used Sansapatcher to install the bootloader. The only thing I need to do now is put some additional fonts on it so I can see the words. Sheesh! The letters are microscopic! lol
I tried to extract the font package to my Sansa root but it says there's already a file named.rockbox, do I want to replace it. I cancelled out of it and am extracting to my desktop and I'll copy the fonts file to the Sansa root, overwriting the current fonts file already there.
RB boots with the 4GB MicroSDHC card plugged in but it takes a few moments for it to. Maybe 10 to 15 seconds for RB to load. Without the card RB loads instantly.
Also, while checking out the 4GB card, I have all movie files on it and decided to see if it would fuction in my c250. I have RB installled on my c250 and the card did work without a hitch. Not only that but my litle c250 is now a very small widescreen video player because those movies will play on it. I just need to encode the files at a smaller, widescreen resolution.
:) :)
Thanks to all involved in helping me solve this issue. I knew RB is good but was concerned I may not get to have it make my e250 the prize PMP I think it is.

With the exception of the formatting part, that is the way described in the manual.

What about the fonts package? I tried to install it but it tried to replace the the .rockbox file. More than that, I checked the size of the fonts files on both unzipped files, the rockbox installer and the fonts pack, and they are exactly the same size making me think the fonts package doesn't have any more fonts in it than the rockbox installer. The RB installer has 2.
Febs:
Pay attention to the actual message that the unzip program gives you. It probably says that there already exists a folder with the name ".rockbox" and that if you proceed, files with the same name will be overwritten. This just means that whatever is in the fonts package will overwrite files with the same name that are already in the .rockbox directory. It doesn't mean that the other contents of the directory will be erased. So if the fonts package installs fonts to .rockbox/fonts, that won't impact anything in .rockbox/themes, for example.
