1.  Please don't shout.

2.  What happens if you plug it back in to USB?

BorgAlpha:
I had thsi same Problem iwith my E250 after installing RockBox =-\

Solution:
-Remove back cover
-Pull battery
-Put batter back in
(System restarts fine)

Using e200 series with Rockbox & Computer:
-Restart unit and holding left key while it starts
(This will boot it with the SanDisk software)

You then can load it up like normal, and let it reboot in RockBox mode

It's a really ghetto solution but it works.  Hopefully Rockbox will resolve this issue, since it seems to be their software that causes the player to crash and lock up.  Since it works fine with the computer and default software.

It sounds to me like rockbox has hung with the backlight off, making it look like the player is off.  Clearly therefore any efforts to turn it on will not work.  Hold power for at least 15 seconds to properly turn it off, then you can turn back on as normal.  As a note, rockbox does not currently have a USB mode for portalplayer targets, so you need to reboot to the sansa firmware to transfer  music.

The holding power for at least 15 seconds to turn off is a hardware feature, and will always work unless you have a hardware problem.  There is NO need to remove the battery.

And if you have your headphones on you'll hear a "click" when the power shuts off.
