Battery problem in c200
« on: February 20, 2008, 04:50:49 AM »
NOTE: This may be in the wrong section.

After a  few minutes of using my sansa, it turns off.
I have trouble opening the back cover, to take my battery out.
When I finally got it open, I noticed it was different to the other one my sister has.
(I won the two in a drawing comp. One for my sister and one for me.)
I'm wondering how to fix it, and open the back cover without using a screwdriver.
Does this have anything to do with ROCKBOX?

...Long message ;D

Does the same thing happen with the Sandisk original firmware?

If the problem is also in the Sandisk original firmware you fix it by replacing the battery.
As for how to remove screws without a screwdriver...

First of all, the back cover is supposed to come off without a screwdriver.

Secondly, it didn't happen in the Sansa firmware.
I got the lastest build, and amazingly, no battery problem.

There are definitely no screws that hold the back cover on a C-200, you can get the battery out without a screwdriver. You would only need one if you want to open the player further. But the back cover often sits very tightly and I even found a description at a sandisk forum of how to hold the player and place your thumbs best if you want to take the back cover off...

My other c200's back cover is easy to pull off.

It was either assembled loosely (it happens) or its worn a little from any sliding on and off that may have occured.
