Annoying crack at first play after boot on iAudio X5

(1/1)

Daan:
Hello,

I have this annoying short loud crack on my Cowon iAudio X5L ("KCHK!"). It's only there right before the first playback after I've booted into Rockbox (or after I've disconnected the player from my computer). It's been there only for a short while, I've used Rockbox for quite a while without any problems. Recently I've installed the dual boot thing, but changing back to the normal rockbox boot loader does not help. Also upgrading to the latest build does not help. The original firmware does not have the problem.

Anyone else experiencing this problem? Any ideas on what might cause this and how to solve it?

Thanks,

Daan

Detruire:
I think I'm getting this on my 30GB 5.5G iPod.

When Rockbox starts, after the logo, and just before the menu, I get
a crack.

Daan:
Actually this loud crack is there whenever I start playback, not just at first play.
Quite a serious problem. What can I do? Maybe I should file bug report.

There's already a bug report. See "FS#8498 - high noise when resuming at startup". Maybe you can add a comment that it also happens when you start playback.
But before you do it, you should update to a current build and see if it still happens, because I had this problem too, but now I don't have it anymore.

Daan:
OK, so it seems I got rid of the crack. I removed the .rockbox directory from the root directory of the player and copied the .rockbox of the latest build freshly unzipped to the root directory. Normally I copy new builds to the player without removing the old one, in that way I keep the my settings.

Thanks for the advice, (:@).

:)

P.S. Before I removed my old .rockbox, I tried to copy it, and I got several read errors.
