Questions
« on: February 18, 2008, 06:43:48 PM »
Alright well i got a toshiba gigabeat player f20 , and recently discovered rockbox. The install went well , i had to change and remove all the SAT encryptions so that the music now plays. I got questions

1) If i decide to go back will it re-encrypt? will it play with the files it has on there now?

2) Resolved

3) When i dint have Rockbox , the pictures appeared full screen when you turned the gigabeat horizontal.. now the picture appear with the gigabeat vertical and there really small and dont fit the screen. anyway to make them appear like they originaly did? and also with a really big pic the button to make it go to the next picture doesnt work.. it just scrolls the actual picture.. its weird but it only happens to the only pic that randomly dint resize and shows a bigger image then the rest

4) I check the manual.. but doesnt seem to say if i can use windows media player to sync songs to it , it says something about it but i dont understand it really.

A few of your questions can be answered by reading this:

http://www.rockbox.org/twiki/bin/view/Main/GeneralFAQ.

#1 I don't know and #3 I don't really understand.  Bonne chance, mon amie Canadienne.

It won't play the files you have transferred to it whilst running Rockbox if you decide to go back - so you'd have to re-transfer them again, at which point they'd be re-encrypted.

You should be able to use Media Player. I'm not an expert with Media Player but you would need to configure it to recognize your player. Your player would probably appear as a USB media device instead of a Toshiba Gigabeat. Once it recognizes the device you should be able to use it to copy media files.

The jpeg viewer does not rotate images.  If you want them to appear in landscape instead of portrait you'll need to rotate them yourself.  I think that the other behavior is because the cross buttons perform double duty.  They scroll around the image if it's too big to fit in frame, or the right button advances to the next picture in the directory if not.  If you have already zoomed out all the way and it still won't advance then you may need to exit the viewer and manually open the next image you want to view.

Any image manipulation program should do image rotation and scaling.

oo sure i can do it like that.. i thought you meant there was a way via the gigabeat itself.

any reason why only 1 of the image is full screen big meanwhile the other ones are all extremely resized and i have to zoom in to make em full screen and zoom out to change?

** i no i have alot of questions , something to possibly improve on futur version but i would like to point that that i am extremely grateful to the people/team that made rockbox and developing :P THank you **

Do the images have different resolutions?  Maybe one is in portrait the others in landscape?

I am also grateful for the impressive amount of work that has gone into making Rockbox.   :)

^ there all landscape

The picture that appears full screen is a picture that is 2816 x 2112

there other ones are
800 x 600
640 x 480
640 x 450
500 x 335
1024 x 768
1280 x 960
563 x 600
604 x 453
800 x 550
800 x 533
640 x 426

ya lots of them are random sizes.. but anyreason why it displays the one picture full screen but not the rest?

Is the 2816x2112 picture exactly full-screen?

I would also think that the 640x480 pic should work well since it has twice the number of pixels along each dimension as the Gigabeat's screen.

You might get more attention for this question if you pose it as its own topic in the Plugins/Viewers forum.
