Help with uninstall
« on: February 17, 2008, 01:21:22 PM »
I absolutely cannot uninstall Rockbox from my e280 Sansa mp3 player. I've followed the instructions, but the Sansapatcher program will not uninstall my bootloader, therefore I cannot rid myself of it. I know I can work around it by pressing left as it turns on, but this is not convenient to do for the rest of my mp3 player's life.
what is an alternative, manual way of removing the rockbox bootloader?

Just run the Sansa updater (or search for the firmware on google, rename it to "pp5022.mi4" [without the quotes], and drag it to the root of your player). Either way, the rockbox bootloader will be overwritten with the original firmware. AFTER (and only after) you do that, you can delete the .rockbox folder.

I got it.
I went in recovery mode, followed this http://www.rockbox.org/twiki/bin/view/Main/SansaE200Unbrick
It is now working, however, it takes a while for it to boot, even though it's empty.

That's a key reason I use rockbox. 10x faster boot times.

The reason I wanted to take off Rockbox was slow boot and system freezing.
